Real Routines, Real Joy: Happy Voices on Feeling Good
By Happy Girl Lifestyle Writer, DH Moran
In a world that often celebrates hustle over harmony, something softer is starting to bloom. More and more of us are choosing to slow down, tune in, and lead with intention — finding beauty in the small, sacred moments that make life feel just a little lighter.
Happy Girl Lifestyle believes that happiness isn’t a performance — it’s a practice. It’s found in the rituals that center us, the music that moves us, and the affirmations that remind us we’re doing just fine. Our community shows up for themselves and for each other proudly, imperfectly, joyfully – especially in the middle of anxiety, and the unfiltered reality of self-care struggles. We asked three radiant souls from the Happy Girl Lifestyle community to share their routines — the kind that bring calm and clarity. What they revealed was inspiring.
Daily Rituals that Root Us
In a chaotic world, rituals are our anchors — small, everyday moments that whisper, “you’re safe, you’re grounded, you’ve got this.”
For Beth W., her morning routine is where peace begins. “My ritual of cleansing my face, hair, and body is about more than skincare,” she explains. “As I cleanse myself, I quiet my mind and say my morning prayers. It starts my day with calmness and grace.”
Jalen N. finds grounding — literally — by walking barefoot in the grass. “It brings me back to myself. It’s my grounding vibe,” they say, reminding us that nature can be a powerful emotional reset. Sometimes, the most luxurious act of self-care is simply taking a moment to breathe and be.
Movement That Moves More Than Muscles
Let’s be clear: this isn’t about workouts for aesthetics. This is movement as medicine — a way to release tension, shift energy, and reconnect with ourselves. “When I feel bogged down,” says Jalen, “exercise helps me break through — even if only for a little while.”
Beth agrees, sharing how mindful walking and barefoot grounding in nature have become her go-to therapy tools. “It’s not about steps or calories. It’s about being present in my body, and letting go.”
Whether it’s a walk with your thoughts or a dance break in your kitchen, your body knows what it needs.
Mindfulness as a Mental Reset
Mindfulness isn’t a buzzword here — it’s survival. For many of us, learning how to pause and breathe has been life-changing.
Beth discovered meditation during the isolation of the pandemic — and it became even more vital during her breast cancer treatments. “Meditation, breathwork, and pineal gland sound activations helped me so much. These are my weekly go-tos now.”
Jalen taps into tools like the Wim Hof breathing method, mindfulness practices, and gratitude journaling. “It helps shift my mood when I’m feeling low. Sometimes, just breathing intentionally is enough to reset my day.”
There’s no single “right” way to be mindful. Just the practice of turning inward is powerful enough.
Music That Moves the Soul
Sometimes, what we need isn’t a solution — it’s a soundtrack. Music can lift, soothe, or stir something inside us that words can’t reach.
For Jalen, that energy lives in rhythm: “South African Amapiano, house music, and ‘90s Black church gospel — that’s my happy playlist. It lifts me instantly.”
Beth has curated playlists for every mood: “Music is healing. It takes me out of my head and brings me back to my heart.”
And Scot S. sees music as a lens through which he processes life: “Thousands of songs live in my head. They shape how I see the world.”
Soundtracks aren’t just background — they’re emotional medicine.
Manifestation & Dreaming Big
This community doesn’t just believe in hope — they practice it. Whether through manifestation, vision boards, prayer, or intention-setting, these rituals fuel forward motion.
“The life I live now?” Jalen reflects. “It’s a direct byproduct of manifesting. I just wish I’d dreamed even bigger.”
Beth believes in the power of clarity: “Be specific when you ask for what you want. List-making, vision boards, and prayer helped me change my life.”
Your dreams don’t have to be loud. They just have to be yours — and believed in.
Words We Come Back To
Affirmations aren’t just Pinterest quotes or feel-good filler — they’re grounding practices. And they work.
“Everything is working out for me.” Is Beth’s self-soothing phrase she repeats until it sticks.
Jalen uses the “I am…” method to manifest strength in real time. “I am a closer. I am exactly what they need. My product is exactly what they want.” These affirmations prep their mind for success — whether it’s a meeting, a moment, or a meltdown.
And Scot reminds us with a classic: “The truth will set you free.” Simple. Powerful. Always relevant.
Let’s Talk About Anxiety
Anxiety is universal — but still too often invisible. The Happy Girl Lifestyle community is here to change that narrative with honesty and grace.
Beth’s perspective is one we need to hear: “Anxiety is when you live too far in the future. Depression is when you live too far in the past. Living in the now has been life-changing.”
She even has a system to let go of the mental clutter saying, “If I can’t do anything about it between 9–5, I imagine putting it in a jar on a shelf. I deal with it when I actually can.”
Jalen understands that anxiety comes in many forms. He emphasizes, “It needs to be treated with care and consistency. Everyone’s experience is different — and valid.”
And Scot puts it gently but truthfully: “Anxiety is in all of us. How you handle it makes the difference.”
You’re not weak for feeling. You’re brave for facing it.
The Happy Girl Lifestyle Mission: Real Joy, Real Emotions
Happy Girl Lifestyle isn’t about pretending life is always easy. It’s about showing up — tender, brave, imperfect — and embracing the rituals that bring us back to ourselves.
Whether it’s a hat that feels like courage on your head or twinning with your pup — we’re not just wearing clothes. We’re wearing our truth.
So, take that barefoot walk.
Make the playlist.
Say the mantra out loud.
Pause. Breathe.
Remember: joy isn’t a destination — it’s in the tiny, beautiful steps you take every day
“I can cope. I am strong. I am exactly where I need to be.”
Say it again. Then go live it.
